Grand Master Chef Imtiaz Qureshi

Legendary Chef Mohammad Imtiaz Qureshi, a recipient of the Padma Shri award, passed away on February 16 at the age of 93. Chef Qureshi, celebrated for his culinary expertise as the Grand Master Chef at ITC Hotels, gained acclaim for establishing the culinary brands Bukhara and Dum Pukht.

Born in Lucknow in 1928, Chef Qureshi began his culinary journey at the age of seven by assisting the royal chefs in his family home. He was the founder of Bukhara and Dum Pukht, and he popularized both heritage cuisines worldwide, making them global gastronomic sensations.

When speaking of the legend, his signature dishes like Dal Bukhara, Sikandari Raan, and Family Naan are bound to be mentioned. Under his hands, biryani and kebabs were not just food; they were symphonies of taste, tantamount to experiencing a celebration in your mouth.
